Many countries of the Balkan region like Greece, Bulgaria and Herzegovina were under the rule of Turkey which was known as Ottoman empire. Turkey had imposed the suppressive rule over the Christian people of this region. They wanted to be independent from Ottoman Empire. So, the Balkan countries like Greece, Bulgaria and Herzegovina formed league and attacked Turkey. Turkey was defeated and the countries of Balkan league got independence. Serbia was irritated by Austria-Hungary due to their annexation of Bosnia Herzegovina. So, a secret organization named Black Hand Society was formed by Serbian youths to take revenge with Austria Hungary for their occupation over Bosnia Herzegovina. This crisis of Balkan framed the background for this war.
