How did US involvement in Vietnam impact the nation during the 1960s?
fgiga [73]

Answer:

In August 1964, the US government received word that two North Vietnamese torpedo boats attacked US destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin. President Lyndon Johnson requested authorization from Congress for the use of military force, resulting in the Gulf of Tonkin resolution, which laid the groundwork for the full-scale US military commitment to Vietnam. The resolution declared the support of Congress for “all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the armed forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression.”

Johnson was motivated by both domestic political and international balance of power considerations. He fully subscribed to the domino theory and to the containment strategy, and also feared appearing weak in the eyes of his domestic political opponents.

In 1965, Johnson dramatically escalated US involvement in the war. He authorized a series of bombing campaigns, most notably Operation Rolling Thunder, and also committed hundreds of thousands of US ground troops to the fight. Fearful that the war would jeopardize his domestic agenda, Johnson concealed the extent of the military escalation from the American public.

What did the chinese exclusion act of 1882 prevent them from doing
nignag [31]
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 . . . prohibited continued immigration of Chinese laborers

Why? Because mining for gold started to become more scarce and challenging as the gold rush era faded. America was predominantly Caucasian, and politicians decided to write into law the prohibition of continued immigration of Chinese laborers in order to maintain their economic advantage

What are similarities between the Roman republic government and the untied states government
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

ancient Rome, after the last Etruscan king was overthrown, the ancient Roman people vowed never to be ruled by a king again. They set up a system of government by the people and for the people. A couple thousand years later, after the American Revolution, the American people did not wish to be ruled by a king ever again. They set up a system of government by the people and for the people.

Both systems of government are republics. "A republic is a form of government in which the people elect, or choose, their leaders. In most countries with a republican government, the people elect the head of the government, such as a president. They also elect other people, called representatives, to make laws." Britannica Kids

There are many similarities between the government of ancient Rome under the Republic, and the government of the United States after the American Revolution. But there are also differences.
