During the 1960s it achieved 79 records on the Billboard 100 chart. Motown produced artists such as Mable John, Eddie Holland and Mary Wells.

Phil Spector developed the Wall of Sound which was a music formula to the approach of Rock and roll. In the 1960s his career moved in the direction of production. Phil formed a record label in 1961 with Lester Sill called Philles Records. He signed groups like the Crystals and freelance artists. He worked with Altantic Record's R&B. This integration of pop culture resulted in success of the song Talk to Me by DuShon.

The Beatles were formed in England in 1960 in Liverpool. The band members consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The are regarded as the most successful and influential band of all time. The beatles were the foundation of the evolution of pop music and developed it into an art form and a culture in the 1960s.

The beach boys were a boy band in the 1960s who defined the 1960s as a potent pop act. They are considered the one of the most influential act of the rock era with their vocal harmonies and early surf songs. The band drew inspiration from jazz vocal bands, 1950s rock and roll and black R&B.
