Going back to the Middle School days, During the Civil War, there were 2 main reasons the North was able to win: 1.) The North had a larger population 2.) Conscription You might be asking, what is conscription? Conscription is when a large number of newly arrived immigrants were recruited into the Northern Army. Thus, D, is your answer.
