I believe the answer to this question is C. Labor needs in the colonies. At first, the settlers came up with indentured servants. Indentured servants then began to die from the hard work, so then the settlers turned to the slave trade, where African Americans were being sold. Since African Americans were used to hard work in Africa, they were the best choice for the job.
