I assume you mean |x-2| = 12 ?


|x-2| = 12
|x-2| = -12

Solve for |x-2| = 12 first
|x-2| = 12
x -2 + 2 = 12 + 2
x = 14
Now solve for |x-2| = -12
|x-2| = -12
x - 2 + 2 = -12 + 2
x = -10

So x = 14 and x = -10
