I think the question here is to clean up this expression and simplify it.

-- Eliminate the first set of parentheses:

                 3 (8z - 1) = 24z - 3

-- Eliminate the second set of parentheses:

                -6 (5 + 3z) = -30 - 18z

-- Now write the whole thing without the parentheses:

                24z - 3    + 10    - 30 - 18z

-- Add up all the z's:

                24z - 18z  =  6z

-- Add up all the plain old numbers:

                 -3 + 10 - 30 = -23

-- Write the z's and plain old numbers together:

                     6z - 23

And that's exactly the same thing as the whole ugly mess
that we started out with in the question.

Peter is at a lumber yard. He gets 2 free boxes of nails for every 10 boards he buys. Write an expression for the number of boxe
Sati [7]
A. The number of 10-boards Peter bought is equal to n divided by 10. Then, each of the 10-boxes will get two boxes of nails. The number of boxes of nails that Peter will have after buying n boards will be,

    N = (2)(n/10)

Simplifying,

   N = n/5

b. If the number of boards are 90 then,

     N2 = (90/10)(2)(100 nails/box)
     N2 = 1800

Answer: 1800

Anon25 [30]
Hello!

First you have to find the total of the items he bought

382 + 12 + 6.14 = 400.14

Then you apply the tax rate

400.14 * 1.0825 = 433.15155

We round this to 433.15

The answer is $433.15

Hope this helps!

Find the y-intercept and the slope of 12x-4y=7
den301095 [7]

Answer:

The slope is 3 and the y intercept is -7/4

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to get the equation in the form

y = mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

12x - 4y =7

Subtract 12x from each side

12x-12x -4y = -12x +7

-4y = -12x+7

Divide each side by -4

-4y/-4 = -12x/-4 +7/-4

y = 3x + -7/4

The slope is 3 and the y intercept is -7/4
