Barbara Jordan's essay begins with a promising tone, commenting on the situation of race relations in America in the beginning of 1990's. Then, she recalls the acts that made positive changes possible, such as, Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act of 1960's. However, the racial relations don't predict a positive growth for 1990's according to the author where she cites the consequences of war-torn Bosnia's similar suffering during the period. Although it seems an emotional appeal, what Barbara Jordan discusses is a reality with her following lines. She proposes a solution. The solution is to act tolerantly and to become friends with people belonging to different race. And parents must take responsibility for their children's upbringing. They must accustom their children to diversity through love and tolerance.

How does Sophocles create tension in the play Oedipus the king?
Westkost [7]

Answer:

When they are finished, Oedipus steps in, rather pridefully, and assures them that he has the situation well in hand. His pride while addressing them, and his assurance that he can handle the situation (rather than praying to the gods as a more humble man might do), certainly increases the dramatic tension in the play.

NEED ANSWERS NOW<br> Explain briefly the differences between major and minor intervals.
Paha777 [63]

Explanation:

The terms “major” and “perfect” refer to the interval's quality. ... A minor interval has one less half step than a major interval. A minor interval has one less semitone than a major interval. For example: since C to E is a major third (4 half steps), C to Eb is a minor third (3 half steps).
