To add fractions, find the LCD - lowest common denominater, and then Combine. For LCD find where both bottom numbers equal the same so in this case you would have to multiply 9 times 11 and vice versa to equal 99. Once you do that the 5 thats on top of the 9 will also have to be multiplied by 11 and the 4 on top of the 11 will have to be multiplied by 9 so it could make sense. Now you must Combine - it would be 55/11 + 36/11. you only add the top numbers and leave the bottom number.(that is what its out of). Thus the answer is 91/11.
Answer is 99

15. Find the length of segment DE of the triangle ABC.
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

Option C. 26\ units

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

Triangles ADE and ABC are similar by AA similarity postulate

AB=2AD

Apply proportion

\frac{AD}{AB}=\frac{8x-6}{12x+4}\\ \\\frac{AD}{2AD}=\frac{8x-6}{12x+4}\\ \\\frac{1}{2}=\frac{8x-6}{12x+4}\\ \\12x+4=16x-12\\ \\16x-12x=4+12\\ \\4x=16\\ \\x=4\ units

Find the length of segment DE

DE=8x-6=8(4)-6=26\ units

Question 8 (1 point)
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

solution is x=3

Step-by-step explanation:

logx-log3=log(x-2)

apply log property

log a- log b= log a/b

logx-log3=log(x-2)\\log (\frac{x}{3} )=log(x-2)

we have log on both sides

so we remove the log and make the arguments equal

\frac{x}{3} = x-2

solve for x, multiply whole equation by 3

x=3(x-2)\\x=3x-6\\x-3x=-6\\-2x=-6\\x=3

now plug in 3 for x  and check

logx-log3=log(x-2)\\log3-log3=log(3-2)\\0=0

solution is x=3

A beach has to enclose a rectangular area, because some endangered species are nesting there. They have 200 feet of rope to rope
kkurt [141]
Area is equal to length times width. The perimeter (the amount of rope) has to equal twice the length added to twice the width so we're left with:
A = l * w
200 = 2l + 2w
solve for either l or w
l = 100 - w
plug into the area equation to get one equation with two variables
A = w(100 - w)
A = -w^2 + 100w
take the derivative
A' = -2w + 100
set the derivative equal to zero
0 = -2w + 100
2w = 100
w = 50
This is the width that maximizes the area
with a width of 50, the length must also be 50 to have a perimeter of 200
therefore, they can rope up to 50 * 50 = 2500 ft^2
