A physical evidence is the one which proves a fact about the crime. It can be any biological or non-biological entity that is collected from the crime scene or some where else and over which analysis and comparison with similar entity, can help in conviction or eviction in the court of law.  

This statement is true because physical evidences substantiates or supports the circumstances that could have occurred in the past.
