Let's do the work shall we....

this is going to be a ratio problem.

Striped Marlin:
70 miles/ One hour (Or 60 minutes)

Sailfish:
40 miles/ 30 minutes.

Since 30 minutes is only one half of 60 minutes, all we have to do is multiply the sailfish ratio by 2 in order to receive the correct mph.

(40miles/30 minutes) x2 = (80 miles/60 minutes(or one hour)).

Therefore, the sailfish is faster! 80 miles per hour is faster than the 70 mph marlin.

You convert the minutes to hours and the marlin is slower because 70 mph is less than 80 mph.My work is in the attachment.

Answer:

-243

Step-by-step explanation:

{( - 3)}^{ - 5}  =  \frac{1}{x}  \\  \\  \therefore \:  \frac{1}{ {( - 3)}^{ 5} }  =  \frac{1}{x}  \\  \\ \therefore \:  {( - 3)}^{ 5} = x \\  \\ \therefore \:   - 243 = x \\  \\  \huge \red{ \boxed{\therefore \: x =  - 243}}

PLEASE HELP! I will give you the brainiest and A LOT of points! (Ch.5.3)
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

Multiplier = 1.75x (7/4).

7/8 cups butter, 4 and 3/8 ounces chocolate, 1 and 3/4 cups sugar, 7/8 teaspoons vanilla, 3 and 1/2 eggs (4 if rounded!), 1 and 5/16 cups flour.

Step-by-step explanation:

The ingredient list is for 16 brownies, but you need to make 28. This means you have to make 1.75x the amount (28/16), so all ingredient quantities need to be multiplied by 7/4 (1.75 in fraction form).

Butter: 1/2 * 7/4 = 7/8 cups

Chocolate: 5/2 * 7/4 = 4 and 3/8 ounces

Sugar: 1 * 7/4 = 1 and 3/4 cups

Vanilla: 1/2 * 7/4 = 7/8 teaspoons

Eggs: 2 * 7/4 = 3 and 1/2 eggs (if rounded, 4, as 3.5 rounds up)

Flour: 3/4 * 7/4 = 1 and 5/16 cups

<span> (x + 3) • (x - 12)
</span>

The first term is, <span> <span>x2</span> </span> its coefficient is <span> 1 </span>.
The middle term is, <span> -9x </span> its coefficient is <span> -9 </span>.
The last term, "the constant", is <span> -36 </span>

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of the first term by the constant <span> <span> 1</span> • -36 = -36</span>

Step-2 : Find two factors of  -36  whose sum equals the coefficient of the middle term, which is  <span> -9 </span>.

<span><span>     -36   +   1   =   -35</span><span>     -18   +   2   =   -16</span><span>     -12   +   3   =   -9   That's it</span></span>

Step-3 : Rewrite the polynomial splitting the middle term using the two factors found in step 2 above,  -12  and  3
                     <span>x2 - 12x</span> + 3x - 36

Step-4 : Add up the first 2 terms, pulling out like factors :
                    x • (x-12)
              Add up the last 2 terms, pulling out common factors :
                    3 • (x-12)
Step-5 : Add up the four terms of step 4 :
                    (x+3)  •  (x-12)
             Which is the desired factorization

Final result :<span> (x + 3) • (x - 12)</span>
