Answer:

An homonym is a word that has the same sound as other one.

Explanation:

Many times we believe that homonyms are people with the same name, but the real meaning of homonym is a word that sounds the same as the other one but is written differently. An example of this is Right/ write. Both sound the same however the mean extremely different things. They are not synonyms, because they are different things.

Hello!

Homonyms are words that are either spelled or said the same but have different meanings.

Example 1: Two/to/too (all pronounced the same)
-Two is used when referring to the number 2.
-Too is used as "also". (ex. I am going to the movie theater too)
-to is used as an infinitive or a noun right before a verb.

Example 2: bow/bow (spelled the same but have different meanings & are pronounced differently.)
-bow (1): a hair accessory
-bow(2): to bend over

I hope this helps you! Feel free to comment or PM me if you have any additional questions!

According to your textbook, a(n) __________ is an imaginary story that makes a general point.
Pepsi [2]

We can complete the sentence as "According to your textbook, a hypothetical example is an imaginary story that makes a general point," option 4.

What is a hypothetical example?

As the name suggests, a hypothetical example is simply an example that is not about a real story. It is an imaginary story, something fictitious, whose purpose is just to illustrate a point.

You can be reading a text where the author gives you a hypothetical example just to have you imagine a situation that proves his point. He can, for example, ask you to imagine yourself doing something that you would never do or have never done.

With the information above in mind, we can conclude that the answer provided above is correct. Option 4 is the best answer.

The complete question with the missing answer choices is the following:

According to your textbook, a(n) __________ is an imaginary story that makes a general point.

 • fable
 • illustration
 • simulated example
 • hypothetical example
 • anecdote

What does it mean to credit a source?
Alja [10]

The correct answer is the last option.

To credit a source means to ACKNOWLEDGE WHERE YOU FOUND A SOURCE. In order to avoid plagiarism, the writer has to cite the sources where he found information, being the most common citation formats APA or MLA. The citation style to use will depend on the topic to discuss in the paper.
