The thirteen colonial colonies were the first colonies of the United States but they were Great Britain's colonies until they declared independence. They were New york, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Maryland, West Virginia, Virgina, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia(No, I did not copy and paste)

But they are justified in what they want from the country and they have every right guaranteed by the constitution to assemble and protest.

Saint-Domingue used the French revolution as an inspiration to gain its own independence.  

Its leaders  François Dominique Toussaint-Louverture and Jean-Jacques Dessalines led the revolution against the slavery in Saint-Domingue.

The colony had been an important port in the Americas for goods and products (primary sugar)  that flowed from France to  Europe. It became the richest and most prosperous colony in the West Indies and gained independence.
