William Jennings Bryan, in his famous "Cross of Gold" speech, accused the idea that gold was the only support for the United States currency, and after an emotional and shocking speech, made a comparison of the crown of thorns and of the cross, to the imposition that gold was the only way to secure the value of money and labor. The speech had a great effect on the people of the convention, so much so that the delegates named Bryan as presidential candidate, although he was still young. But inflation came along with his solution to economic depression, after the "Panic of 1893," he made what was called "easy money," he managed to mint silver coins, with a gold ratio of 16 to 1. Thus, with that populist policy, he managed to win the support of many voters, during a long trip through 27 states.

While the Palestinians were weakening and, consequently, dispersing part of their population to other territories (such as Lebanon, Syria and Egypt), Israel intensified its strength and became militarily and politically predominant in the Middle East region, mainly after the victories in the wars of the Suez (1956), of the Six Days (1967) and of Yom Kippur (1973). This configuration favored the creation, by the Palestinians, of several extremist groups that started to fight not only for the creation of a Palestinian State, but also for the total destruction of Israel and the expulsion of the Jews from the region.

To this end, the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded in 1964, led by the Al Fatah group, which has carried out extremist acts since 1959 and was commanded by Yasser Arafat. Later, in 1987, another extremist group was founded, Hamas, which today consists of three fronts: a political party, an armed wing and a pro-Palestinian philanthropic organization. This group is considered by many countries to be a terrorist organization (including Israel and the USA), but for other countries it not.

Also in 1987, the PLO, under the leadership of Yasser Arafat's Fatah, began to no longer use methods of violence to achieve its objectives and also acted to recognize the existence of the State of Israel, claiming, however, the creation the State of Palestine and a harmonious coexistence between the two peoples, unlike Hamas, which does not accept the existence of the Israelis. Because of this configuration, the PLO came to be recognized by the West and the UN as the only representative of the Arab front in Palestine.

In 1993, the United States made diplomatic intermediation between Arafat and the then Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin, in the so-called Oslo Agreements, in Norway, where the negotiations took place. The official signing of the terms was carried out in Washington, capital of the USA (photo below). These agreements meant that the Palestinians were once again in possession of a territory - even without a constituted state -, at the same time that the PLO was reconfigured by the creation of the Palestinian Authority (PA). That institution came under the command of Arafat and erected its headquarters in the West Bank, which was returned by the Israelis to the Gaza Strip.

The Renaissance and the Reformation are often described as eras that had many great advancements. In your opinion, what were the
statuscvo [17]

Renaissance became a turning point in the South of Europea that later spread to the whole continent. It had a philosophical as well as social, scientific and cultural connotation where old Medieval thought was finally no longer legitimate. It is most known for the representations in the art with the works of the Italian artists, however, we need to recognize it drove the emerging model of the economy at the time (known today as mercantilism) and also regained lost Greek and Ancient cultures knowledge that formerly was prohibited by the Catholic church.

Europeans engaging in the Renaissance became much more centered on the human aspects of life and still continued to practice religion but the former institutions from the Catholic church were significantly diversified into other Institutions, While the Reformation was an effort to reform the current state of situations in Christianity led by Luther, it especially further led to a time of economic progress and cultural development. It became one of the leading social movements that spread across the north of Europe. The people identifying with Reformation ideas began to develop a new way of economic life privileging money savings. This new change on paradigm brought salvation and prosperity towards the common European peoples. The Protestant Ethic and Spirit of Capitalism is a study of the relationship between the ethics of Reformation and the emergence of the spirit of the modern capitalism.
