Acidic substance(s):
Vinegar contain acetic acid
Tomato Juice contain citric acid
Basic substance(s):
Baking Soda contains Sodium Carbonate
Neutral Substance(s):
In the process of producing sugar, the sugar cane juice is acidic but goes through a process where it's acidity is neutralized and as such the crystalline sugar ends up neutral
When cells do not
respond to the signals that normally regulate cell division, cancer results. Cancer cells altered cell division in the
presence of signals that normally inhibit cell growth, with this; they no
longer require special signals to induce cell growth and division. The consequence
of the abnormalities of these cells could lead to mutations in protein-encoding
genes that regulate cell division.
Moreover, they
also inhibit the growth of nearby cells that allow the cancer cells to spread
and invade other tissues. The uncontrollable division form masses of cells
called tumors that can impaired nearby tissues. If these cells stay in their
original site, they are considered benign, if they become invasive, they are
considered malignant which means that cancer cells metastasize, sending tumor
cells to distant locations in the body where new tumors may form.
To solve this problem we first need to find the amount of gametes a fruit fly produces in a meiotic division. For this we will use the formula
, where n represents the number of gene pairs. In our case then,
= 2.2.2.2 = 16
So a fly produces 16 different combinations of gametes. If this fly crosses another one, we have a universe of possibilities of combinations given by the multiplication of the male and female gametes. In the case, then, it would be 16 x 16.
16 x 16 = 256
The process of natural selection is described in the cartoon.
Explanation:
Natural selection is the mechanism by which an organism survive and evolve.
It is the process in which organism have better adaptation to its environment and live to reproduce organisms with useful traits which are passed on to their offsprings.
In the given cartoon it is observed that green beatles fall prey to the crows as a result their survival chances are minimal. Over the generations they are eaten by crows and eventually their brown counterparts are in majority. This is because the brown colour beatles are safe from the prey, they pass on this trait to their offspring and remains safe and more in population.
The brown colouration in beatles is the Darwinian trait of survival of the fittest for beatles.
The variation in population, mutation or genetic drift causes natural selection.
The one with better adaptation survives and reproduce more viable offspring in the population.
