Answer:

Studying the biography of the author, you can notices that he was a troublemaker and had problems with drugs because he was an orphan, no one look after him. In prison, he learned to read and write. In that way,  the prison becomes a school for him, a new beginning that opens his mind to the world of the words. The incentive must be the feeling of gratitude.
