statement is true!

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Here we have , The circle(x-2)^2+(y-3)^2=16  intersect y-axis. We need to find that this statement is true or false . We have the following equation of circle :

(x-2)^2+(y-3)^2=16

Now, In order to say that circle intersect y-axis , we have x=0 , Let's find out value of y for this:

(x-2)^2+(y-3)^2=16

⇒ (0-2)^2+(y-3)^2=16

⇒ 4+(y-3)^2=16

⇒ (y-3)^2=12

⇒ \sqrt{(y-3)^2}=\sqrt{12}

⇒ y-3 = \pm 2\sqrt{3}

⇒ y=3  \pm 2\sqrt{3}

Therefore circle(x-2)^2+(y-3)^2=16  intersect y-axis at two points (0 , 3+2\sqrt{3}) and (0 , 3-2\sqrt{3}). And so statement is true!

Amaya received a 26/30 on her english test and an 81 on her biology test. on which test did she receive the higher score?
Katena32 [7]

For calculating this, you have to calculate percentage,

English test = 26/30 * 100 = 86.66%

Biology test = 81/100 * 100 = 81.00%

So, On English test she received higher score.

40% of an hour in minutes and secs
olga55 [171]

Answer:

<em>40% of an hour </em><em>equals: </em><em>24 minutes </em>

<em>40% of an hour also </em><em>equals: </em><em>1440 seconds</em>

<u>Skills needed: Time Units Conversion</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

1) First, we need to understand how to convert between hours, minutes, and seconds.

There are 60 minutes in 1 hour ==> 1 hour = 60 minutes

There are 60 seconds in 1 minute ==> 1 minute = 60 seconds

- This means that there are 3600 seconds in 1 hour (60*60=3600)

- This also means that there are 60 minutes in 1 hour

2) We are trying to find how many minutes (or seconds) 40% of an hour is.

---> When converted to decimal, 40\%=\frac{40}{100}=0.4

40% of an hour = 0.4 hours

Since there are 60 minutes in an hour, there are 60*0.4 minutes in 0.4 hours. 60*0.4=24 so, 24 minutes in 0.4 hours.

Since there are 3600 seconds in an hour, there are 3600*0.4 seconds in 0.4 hours. 3600*0.4=1440 so, 1440 seconds in 0.4 hours.

Answer:

  1.  shifts the graph right 2 units

  2. y = -2(x -3)² +7

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Replacing x with x-h in any function shifts the graph h units to the right. Here, you have replaced x with (x-2), so the graph will be shifted 2 units to the right.

__

3) The vertex form of the equation of a parabola is ...

  y = a(x -h)² +k . . . . . . . . for vertex (h, k) and vertical scale factor 'a'

Here, the vertex is (h, k) = (3, 7), and the parabola opens downward. This tells us the sign of 'a' is negative.

The graph is not so clear that it is easy to read the value of 'a' directly from it, but there are several clues.

The zeros of the above function are found at h±√(k/a). This graph shows the zeros to be located such that √(7/a) is slightly less than 2. This means the magnitude of 'a' will be slightly more than 7/2² = 1.75. The y-intercept of the function is 7-9a. It is less than -7, but probably more than -14. This puts bounds on 'a':

  -14 < 7-9a < -7

  -21/9 < -a < -14/9   ⇒   -2.33 < -a < -1.56

If we assume that 'a' is an integer value, we have bounded its magnitude as being between 1.75 and 2.33, so a=-2 is a reasonable choice.

The equation of the graph may be ...

  y = -2(x -3)² +7
