Gibbons v. Ogden was a landmark decision enacted by the US Supreme Court in 1824 which stated that, together with the power to regulate interstate commerce, the US Congress had the power to regulate navigation.

The case was discussed by the best attorneys who were active at those times. Thomas Addis Emmet and Thomas J. Oakley argued to defend the position of Ogden and William Wirt and Daniel Webster did the same for Gibbons.

. What were some of the advantages, and disadvantages, of African American life in the North?
LenaWriter [7]

Answer:

In the North, in contrast to the South, the plantation slavery system brought little profit, but it required large expenditures, and, therefore, was economically unprofitable. Therefore, they gradually began to abandon it and get rid of slaves. Nevertheless, in the northern states, there were also slaves, mainly domestic servants, farm laborers, etc. Free blacks in the North could have tiny farms, sometimes shops and workshops, which were visited exclusively by their brothers in color.
