What love could do to me! How could I know? 
As thunder crashes, bolts unstitch the sky. 
I thought I understood, but then the blow 
Changed all. Good bye, old friends—good bye, good bye! 
They fell, like castles bombed and ruined, fast, 
When earthquakes hit and God’s decree comes down 
On village, cottage, pillar, sail and mast, 
On circuses, amusements, (juggler, clown). 
On earth the puny things we do can’t last. 
All falls from love! Thus touched, we know the sky 
And live as we were meant to live in life, 
Can choose another, tie the holy tie, 
The knot of wife and man and man and wife. 
It starts with kisses, moves to fuller bliss:
