I would argue that there are actually two answers in that list that are NOT true of the Jewish religion:

  • People of the Jewish religion believe that the Messiah has yet to come.
  • There are currently more than 200 million practicing Jews on the planet.

Let's take up the number of practicing Jews first.  In looking at the demographics of Judaism, Georgetown University's Berkeley Center estimates that there are "around 15 million Jews worldwide, about 0.2 percent of the global population."  The Pew Research Center gives similar estimates.  Their 2010 demographic information estimated about 14 million practicing Jews around the world, noting that "this estimate is based on the number of people who self-identify as Jewish when asked about their religion on national censuses and large-scale surveys."

As to the question about the Messiah -- there are some within the Jewish faith who are "Messianic Jews" and are looking for the Messiah yet to come.  But that is not the dominant opinion within Judaism.  There are various branches within Judaism -- in the United States there are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist groups.  In Israel there are different terms and distinctions used, many even referring to themselves as "secular Jews."  Many within the Jewish religion see the aim of their faith as giving meaning and ethics to their lives on this earth and are not specifically awaiting the arrival of a Messiah figure.

It might be that your class has suggested that people of the Jewish faith are waiting for a Messiah yet to come, but that is a simplistic stereotype of Judaism based on a small faction within Judaism.
