Answer:

C. The air is thick, as if before a storm, and the night is so dark that Rainsford thinks he could sleep with his eyes open.

Explanation:

The air is thick, this sets the eerie feeling of the story´s setting, you can imagine the thick air surrounding the characters and how that affects the setting how that gets a suspensful feeling, then the author adds, the night is so dark that he could sleep with his eyes open, this gets the suspense needed to create an eerie and suspenfil mood in the story.

Andreas93 [3]

Answer:

Talking in a tone can have a different effect on certain people but also do your words.

Ex:

Help the people and HELP THE PEOPLE!!!

You see, one small little thing can totally change the vibe you're trying to emit while talking so just raising your voice, cursing, and vocabulary can change peoples' perspective on your speech. A good example is Martin Luther King since his speech embraced the lives of others but enraging the lives of many as well, if he had maybe said the same thing in  different vocabulary it would not have had the same effect

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. I have a dream today!" that speech was said with a enthusiasm which sparked happiness in the life of others
