Answer:

The excerpt is an example of third-person limited narration. Phrases such as “the child wondered,” “she must make a point,” and “she was able to attach” indicate this mode of narration. This point of view lets readers see the events through the eyes of Maisie. The description of the emotions and expressions of the character reveal that the narrator is very close to the character.

Hey! This was really tough to figure out. But I am really sure the type of narration used in the excerpt is Third Person Limited. The words that stand out to me the most, when it comes to making this claim was "at the age of six" and that "knew she felt it" because the narrator knew about the character's back story, however it is only pertained to the main character, which is Maisie. The effect of this point of view, is that it shows a very detailed representation of what is going through the character's mind and giving somewhat more of a description about Maisie and her story.

Answer:

C. Peaceful

Explanation:

<u>To answer this question we need to understand why some words feel more positive and some more negative. What influences the words?</u>

The words have denotation and connotation; these are two different meanings of a word.

The denotation of a word is its explicit or direct meaning. The connotation of a word refers to a meaning that is implied by a word apart from its direct meaning. Words can have cultural and emotional associations or meanings.

<u>Also, the words can have positive or negative connotations; it depends on the social, cultural, and personal experiences.</u>

So, keeping this in mind, we can say that the word 'boring' has a negative connotation. It gives us an impression of something annoying and dull.

From the given options:

  • <u>the word </u><u>'stale'</u><u> has a negative connotation.</u> It is something unsympathetic.
  • <u>the word </u><u>'monotonous'</u><u> has a negative connotation.</u> It gives an impression of something boring and dull as well.
  • <u>the word </u><u>'lifeless'</u><u> has a negative connotation.</u> It is something unalive, dead, inanimate.
  • <u>only the word </u><u>'peaceful'</u><u> has a positive connotation. </u>It gives an impression of something good, calm and without worrying.

I hope it helped you :)
