The correct answers are B) sons helped mother’s brothers as needed and C) brothers protect sisters.

The roles that brothers and sons were expected to play in Africa’s matrilineal cultures were sons helped mother’s sisters as needed and brothers protected sisters.

In Africa, the matrilineal system dominated many cultures. This system means that is the mother –not the father- that led the family in the tribes. Matrilineal societies created an especial bond between brothers and sisters. The roles that brothers and sons were expected to play in Africa’s matrilineal cultures were sons helped mother’s sisters as needed and brothers protected sisters. The opposite of matrilineal was patrilineal, where fathers were the main figure in the family.

The preamble sets the stage for the Constitution (Archives.gov). It clearly communicates the intentions of the framers and the purpose of the document. The preamble is an introduction to the highest law of the land; it is not the law. It does not define government powers or individual rights.
