Nativism is a policy that applied in the United States that supports the idea that the legal citizens of the country have preference over immigrants. This policy adopted some laws that reflected the presence of immigrants in the US. Many white Americans were discontent for the fact that immigrants were taking jobs that belonged to US citizens and race discrimination started to affect relationships.
