Answer:

1. All we Karamazovs are such insects, and. . .that insect lives in you, too.

metaphor

2. Why then, O brawling love, O loving hate, O anything, from nothing first create, O heavy lightness! Serious vanity!

oxymoron

3. I was quaking from head to foot, and could have hung my hat on my eyes, they stuck out so far.

hyperbole

Explanation:

1. metaphor is an implied comparison; it is when you are saying that something is something else.

"we Karamazovs are such insects". The speaker compares his family to insects by saying that they are insects.

2. oxymoron is a combination of two words that seem to be contradictory.

"loving hate" is an example of such a combination, and so is "heavy lightness." "Serious vanity" and "brawling love" were also written with an oxymoron in mind.

3. hyperbole is exaggeration used for dramatic effect.

"I was quaking from head to foot, and could have hung my hat on my eyes, they stuck out so far." The whole excerpt is an excellent example of a hyperbole because it is an obvious exaggeration.

Which sentence is a COMPOUND sentence? *
Makovka662 [10]

Answer:

You can go the movies, or you can go to Skyzone.

Explanation:

A compound sentence is a sentence with two clauses separated by a conjunction, but the two clauses should make sense on their own.

The 1st sentence is a complex sentence. The second is a simple sentence. The third one has a 'My cousin took us to Target' 'then to Chic Fil A' separated by a conjunction 'and' but the second clause doesn't make sense on its own. The fourth sentence has a 'You can go to the movies' and is separated by a conjunction 'or' 'you can go to Skyzone' and both clauses make sense on their own, therefore it is the compound sentence you are looking for.

I hope this makes sense!! ^-^

Imagism was a part of the:
Gnom [1K]

Imagism was a part of the B) Modern Period.

What is imagism?

Imagism was 20th-century poetic movement. It heavily relied on the the use of concrete, short, precise, clear, and sharp languages rather to depict images so that a physical experience is obtained through words.

The main features of this period of imagism included the following:

 • Directness of words
 • Economy of language
 • Avoidance of generalities
 • Precise phrasing
 • Limited adherence to poetic meter.

Thus, imagism was a part of the Modern Period and not the Romantic, Transcendental, or Contemporary Periods.
