I'm not sure but I used to take a piano lesson. Staff is the lines on the music sheet.

The name of this American composer and at the same time pianist is George Gershwin. He wrote the orchestral compositions like Rhapsody in Blue in 1924 and An American in Paris in 1928. In 1935, he also made the Porgy and Bess which was an opera piece. At first he was well known as a song plugger but later he began composing for Broadway theatrical works with Ira Gershwin, his brother, and Buddy DeSylva.  His works were performed by many singers and artists. His compositions have been used and adapted in numerous films and for television too. His works became jazz standards and were also recorded in many variations.
