What main question does Woolf ask to help guide her essay's organization?

Answer:

B. Why did women not write poetry during the Elizabethan Age?

Explanation:

Virginia Woolf's "A Room Of One's Own" deals with the issue of women being denied or forced away from the basic rights such as education and other facilities unlike the men. And by taking an example of a fictional "Judith, Shakespeare's wonderfully gifted sister", she presents a case where women may have the chance to be as great as the man himself but without the equal opportunities, are left 'inferior' to men.

In this essay, Woolf asks the simple yet important question of why women couldn't write poetry. And in an answer to her own question, she states that had women been allowed the same facilities of education and time like the men, then there is a sure way that women will produce the same level of works in literature like the men. Judith, for instance, can also become a great writer, <em>"extraordinarily gifted"</em> like her brother William Shakespeare if only she had been educated in <em>"grammar and logic"</em>. But she was made to do the house-works <em>"and not moon about with books and papers"</em> while William studies, sharpening his skills. And the only solution for Judith to be deemed great like her brother is to run away from home and pave her own way, or be stuck at home and wait for her brother to gain more popularity with his works.

Read the excerpt from John Muir's "Calypso Borealis" and answer the question.
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

Muir views nature as a place of freedom, exploration, and adventure.

He describes his first botanizing excursion as a moment of "glorious freedom" in which he can explore its beauty. His use of words reflect that feeling even when he´s talking about the hardships of the experience:

Explanation:

The description of the difficulty when fording streams and wading swamps reflects a sense of adventure more than one of despair.

Then, there´s a bad situation, which is indicated by words such as "bewildering" and "discouraging," but then he describes the Calypso found on a stream, usually a nice location, and phrases such as "bed of yellow mosses," "small white bulb," and "soft nest" all represent a nice situation.

In Sophocles's Greek tragedy Oedipus the King, Oedipus discovers that he has unknowingly killed his biological father and marrie
Fed [463]

Answer:

The elements are Anagnorisis, Catharsis and Peripeteia

Explanation:

This piece of theater written by Sophocles presents several elements of the Greek tragedy, which are: anagnorisis which is the recognition of who is, in the case of Oedipus the murderer of his father, and husband of his mother; the peripeteia that is the passage to fortune for the misfortune of the hero; the catharsis that is the moment of commotion in the audience, when the hero, who was made for the audience to identify with him, suffers the consequences of his tragic failure with the peripécia. Thus, we have in Oedipus King many elements for the constitution of a work of complete Greek tragedy
