When expanding brackets, you have to multiply whatever is outside by everything on the inside
The calculations you would do are
y x y
y x 10

Whenever a value is multiplied by itself once, we describe it as the value squared (²)
y x y can be written as y²

y x 10 is the same as 10 lots of y
In algebra, we don't write multiplication signs as it can get confusing so we write the number directly in front of the letter    10y

When put together, y(y + 10) expanded is

y² + 10y

The slope of AB is 2/3, A(1,-4) and B(-5,y). Solve for the value of y.
Gala2k [10]
Y=5

the difference between the x coordinates of each point is 6. in order for the slope to simplify to 2/3 the difference in y should be 9.
y=9-4(y coordinates of A)
=5

Find a solution to dA/dt=-6A if A(0)=6. A(t)=
Delicious77 [7]

This equation is separable,

\dfrac{dA}{dt} = -6A \implies \dfrac{dA}A = -6\,dt

Integrate both sides and solve for A :

\displaystyle \int \frac{dA}A = -6 \int dt

\ln|A| = -6t + C

e^{\ln|A|} + e^{-6t+C}

\implies A(t) = Ce^{-6t}

Solve for C using the initial value.

A(0) = 6 \implies 6 = Ce^0 \implies C=6

Then the particular solution is

\boxed{A(t) = 6e^{-6t}}
