An author uses figurative language to aid the reader on what they are reading, and determine what is happening. Ex: similes, metaphor, hyperboles, etc. <span />
Archetypes are useful in literature because they are easily recognized and convey a lot of information. Archetypes are the characters in the story or a situation in the story that are the typical ones and are easily recognized by the readers because they convey a universal pattern. For example: A hero: is the character who is known to display goodness and fight against evil.
Personally, I could never see myself as a leader, but if I were to be one during this time I would first understand both sides. The U.S government did the wrong thing when it came to this because they basically forced the Natives to leave their homelands. Like uhhhh, where’s the brain?? And to top it off, you have stinky men taking away most of the women and girls just to do the most awful things to them. I would talk to the Natives and say that we would have one side of the land while they had their half. I know it probably wouldn’t have been completely easy for I’m pretty sure the Natives wouldn’t see easily trust Americans. To be honest, no one was innocent during this time, but we know that this land was founded by Natives and I am not going to live to tell my children the whole “Christopher Columbus” thing. I hope my version of this idea helped lol
Sonny’s piano playing helps him deal with his problems, his suffering. He works out his problems by playing the piano. The narrator does not realize this at all until he actually hears him play the piano. It is only them that he sees both the problems that Sonny is trying to overcome and also his triumph. This is important for understanding how much Sonny playing the piano represents light and dark, triumph over chaos. The narrator thinks about his own life and realizes that suffering is a universal experience. Without suffering, people probably would never understand happiness or joy. Sonny’s music offers hope to the narrator and to the reader.
