In media res is when a character is dropped in the middle of action, and that being the beginning of the story. A flash forward is something that is shown in the story out of chronological order, usually for dramatic effect or irony. Episodic plot structures are much like TV show episodes, following a rising action-climax -rising action-climax pattern. I believe the answer you are looking for is Parallel Plot Structure. :)

9. Which of the following lines from "Not Waving but Drowning" contains an instance of
stealth61 [152]

The following lines from "Not Waving but Drowning" contain assonance: "Oh, no no no, it was always too cold."

What is the theme of the poem "Not Waving but Drowning"?

 • At first glance, this poem appears to be about the death of a man who drowns after onlookers misinterpret his signals for help with waving. In reality, it is about human experiences and emotions and describes depression and isolation.
 • Smith wants the reader to understand that this man is drowning in emotion, and the poem as a whole is a metaphor for the isolation caused by apathy and being an outsider.
 • 'Not Waving But Drowning' by Stevie Smith is a three-stanza poem with a rhyme scheme that deviates slightly as the poem progresses. The lines rhyme abcb in the first stanza, defe in the second, and gbhb in the third.

What is the purpose of presenting a false dilemma in a speech?
Alekssandra [29.7K]

The answer to your question is D, I'm pretty sure. The question is confusing, to me, too, but hopefully this is correct.

Just searched it up, google said this; "Also known as the either/or fallacy, false dilemmas are a type of informal logical fallacy in which a faulty argument is used to persuade an audience to agree. False dilemmas are everywhere. They can be deliberate or accidental, but their goal is to make their argument convincing."
