You and a classmate have volunteered to contact every member of your class by phone to inform them of an upcoming event. You can

complete the calls in six days if you work alone. Your classmate can complete them in four days. How long will it take to complete the calls working together?
If N is the total number of calls, what expression represents the number of calls that you can make per day? What expression represents the number of calls your friend can make per day?

What is the expression for the number of days needed to make N calls if you are working together?

Hi, thank you for posting your question here at Brainly.

This is a common work problem in Algebra. To solve this, the general form of the equation would be:

\frac{ t_{together} }{ t_{A,alone} } + \frac{ t_{together} }{ t_{B,alone} } =1

let A denote you and B denote your classmate. Substituting,

\frac{ t_{together} }{6} } + \frac{ t_{together} }{ 4} } =2.4 \ days

It would take about 2.4 days for the both of you to complete the calls.

18% of the the students at a school are in year 8 and 16% of the students are in year 9. If the school has 126 tera 8 students,
yarga [219]

Answer:

112

Step-by-step explanation:

The general form of all percentage questions is: the chunk= (some percentage) (of the whole), or c=p*w

We know that 18% of students are 8th grade and that is 126 students, so p = 0.18 and c=126 (126 students are 18% of the whole school)

126 = (0.18)w, divide both sides by 0.18

126/(0.18) = w = 700

9th graders are 16% of the school or 16% of 700 students

c = (0.16) 700 = 112 students

65 percent because 20 times 5 is 100 and so then we have to do 13 times 5, which is 65. :3
