Families in the Mayan society usually lived as a club of small nuclear families. The commoners family used to have a small piece of land where the members of the extended family built their houses.

The Mayan families used to own a small kitchen garden. Children of Mayan families were raised with values and taught to respect their parents. The ancestral worship was a part of their religion.

Man were the head of the families who ensured about the livelihood of the family along with their basic requirements. Whereas, women played crucial role in feeding the family and raising the children with the core values.
