Literary themes from the Victorian Era include which of the following? Individuality; injustice; morality; well-being. The literature of this era was followed by modernism. The era is also remarkable for the excellence of its prose. Literature in the Victorian Era tended to come face to face with realism. This reflected more on practical problems/interests (individuality and well-being). It becomes a powerful instrument for human progress. Victorian literature asserts its moral purpose. It was like the age of pessimism and confusion (the influence of science was strongly felt). The literature of the Victorian Era portrays an ideal life, although characterized as materialistic. It was an idealistic era where ideals like truth, morality, justice, brotherhood were emphasized (by poets, essayists, and novelists).

The Victorian Era of the UK was the period of Queen Victoria's rule from 1837 to 1901. It was a long period of prosperity for the British people.

Victorian literature includes the works written between 1837 to 1901, during the reign of Queen Victoria, in English. It was preceded by the Romanticism and followed by the Edwardian Era.

Some of the topics it dealt with were:

 • Injustice: One of the most famous authors of this period, Charles Dickens, dealt with the topic of injustice in several novels, such as David Copperfield, Oliver Twist and Great Expectations.
 • Morality: Morality was an important topic in literary works during the Victorian Era. Some works that deal with this topic are The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy and Vanity Fair by William Thackeray.
