Answer:

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling, the death of the House Elf Dobby was tragic.  He promised Harry that he would never try to safe his life again, but died in breaking that promise, and freeing Harry along with Hermione, Ron, Luna, Dean, Xeno, Ollivander and Griphook from Malfoy Manor.  When Bellatrix Lestrange threw her wand at Dobby, the audience was left staring at the screen while praying that the vicious, murdering and crazy woman missed-but she didn't.  Dobby died saving his friends, and Harry used Dobby's death to empower himself to finally kill the Dark Lord.  Rest in peace Dobby, rest in peace.
