Answer:  " p = 18 " .
__________________________________________________
Explanation:
__________________________________________________
The [arithmetic] mean =

{the sum of all the values in the data set}
        divided by {the number of values in the number set} ;
__________________________________________________
  → 17 = (<span>10 + 12 + 16 + 20 + 26 + p) / 6 ;

__________________________________________________
</span>→ (10 + 12 + 16 + 20 + 26 + p)  = 17 * 6 ;

 →     (p + 84) = 102

Subtract "84" from each side of the equation;
  to isolate "p" on one side of the equation; & to solve for "p" ;

→ p + 84 – 84 = 102 – 84 ;

→ p = 18 .
_________________________________________________

The answer is:
 " p = 18 " .

There are 6 numbers total

17 * 6 = 102

10 + 12 + 16 + 20 + 26 = 84

p = 102-84 = 18

p = 18

Kelly needs to order lunch for the 6 people at a business meeting. Her menu choices are chicken salad for acost of $5 per person
Lady bird [3.3K]
Hello There!! (:
I'm Here to help!
If we say Kelly orders 1 chicken salad, then it means she ordered 5 egg salads. If she ordered x chicken salads, then she'll have to order the rest, which is <span>(6−x)</span> egg salads. For first equation, let's set y to be the meal's price. It consist of the price of all chicken salads ordered and the price of all egg salads ordered: <span>y=5x+4(6−x)</span> Again, x represents number of chicken salads ordered, and y represents the meal's price. A second equation would come to limit the price to the money Kelly has: <span>y≤28
</span> Notice there are more constraints to add on the values (x cannot be negative, no such thing negative number of salads or fractional number of salads) so just keep that in mind. Now, since we know the price based on the number of chicken salads, we can say for what number of salads it matches the second restriction: <span><span><span>5x+4(6−x)≤28</span><span>5x+24−4x≤28</span><span>x≤28−24</span><span>x≤4

Does this help you?
I Sure hope so have a goodnight ! (:

Plz I need help on this question
Alina [70]

Answer:

11.33

Step-by-step explanation:

First find the markup

8.80 * 25%

8.8 *.25 = 2.20

The new price is 8.80+2.20 = 11

Now find the tax

11*.03

.33

Add the tax to the new price

11+.33

11.33

When the solutions are going to be complex, which methods can be used to solve quadratic equations?
yKpoI14uk [10]
You could complete the square to state the vertex.
You could use the quadratic equation to find the roots (which are complex).

Try an example that will require both.

y = x^2 + 2x + 5

Step One
Get the graph. That's included below.

Step Two
Provide the steps for completing the square.
Note: we should get (-1,4)

y= (x^2 +2x ) + 5
y = (x^2 +2x + 1) + 5 - 1
y = (x +1)^2 + 4

The vertex is at (-1,4)

Step Three
Find the roots. Use the quadratic equation. Note that the graph shows us that the equation never crosses or touches the x axis. The roots are complex.

\text{x = }\dfrac{ -b \pm \sqrt{b^{2} - 4ac } }{2a}

a = 1
b = 2
c = 5

\text{x = }\dfrac{ -2 \pm \sqrt{2^{2} - 4*1*5 } }{2}
\text{x = }\dfrac{ -2 \pm \sqrt{4 - 20 } }{2}
\text{x = }\dfrac{ -2 \pm \sqrt{-16 } }{2}
\text{x = }\dfrac{ -2 \pm 4i }{2}
x = -1 +/- 2i

x1 = -1 + 2i
x2 = -1 - 2i And we are done.
