His first impression was half-amazed. He described the Natives as full of wildness and savagery.  However, their perception changed when he met Squanto and Samoset. These two Natives were able to help the pilgrims to forge a treaty with the Natives. The Natives were hospitable and shared their knowledge in planting corn and other crops.
