Answer:

For food storage, support, respiration, and moisture

Explanation:

Here are four reasons for root modifications.

1. For food storage

Examples are the roots of turnips, carrots, and sweet potatoes (Fig.1).

2. For better respiration

Plants like Rhizophora that grow in swampy areas have roots that grow upwards for respiration (Fig. 2).

3. For support

For example, the roots of the banyan tree develop in its branches. They grow down to the ground and support the tree (Fig. 3).

4. To obtain moisture

Flowers like orchids have roots that develop on the trunks and branches of trees. They hang freely and absorb moisture from the air (Fig 4).

How are the diverse living organisms within a biome dependent upon each other and the nonliving parts of their environment? Give
Basile [38]
An example that shows how organisms are dependent on each other would using a food chain as an example.
• mouse eat grass and drink water ( which is nonliving)
• mouse gets eaten by fox
• then fox then eaten by coyote and the cycle continues
However is one of these organisms have low population it will be difficult for the others. For example if there is a low population of coyotes then the fox population over populate same goes for if fox are low in population then the mouses become over populated hence diseases could spread from the mouses. The organisms must keep each other in check
