Charles I was far from the great reformer that Peter the Great is remembered as.  Charles was not a very good ruler because he couldn't get along with parliament. Peter the Great seems to be a better ruler than Charles l.  Peter wanted to change his nation and did, but he couldn't make any real big changes because of financial reasons,   Charles l had do more for the people to please them,  When Charles l was king his monarchy was remembered for peace and prosperity.   During Peter the great monarch he attempted to established Russia as a great nation. He wanted to concentrate on developing commerce and industry.  He modernized the Russia alphabet, he introduced the Julian calendar, and even established the first newspaper in Russia.
