Very formal words in English often have their roots in A. Anglo-Saxon. B. Italian and French. C. Latin and Greek. D. Arabic.
evablogger [386]

Answer:

The correct answer is C. Latin.

Explanation:

Around 40% of words in the English language were borrowed or coined based on Latin roots or via French. Due to historical evolution of the Anglo Saxon society through time, from that large percentage, most words are used in scientific, legal, medical and academic terminology.

kykrilka [37]

Answer:

1. Sentence fragment- Add the missing subject or verb to make the sentence complete.

2. Run-on sentence- Break the sentence into two or more small sentences, or add punctuation to show the reader where the breaks are.

3. Too many sentences of the same length- Revise your sentence lengths to have a strong balance of short, medium, and long sentences. This can be shown visually by highlighting your draft.

4. First three words of sentences repeated- Use a thesaurus or other resource to swap it out for another word- there are many to chose from.

5. Overused transition word- Rephrase one of the repeated phrases to something else to keep your reader from getting bored.

Explanation:

In writing any academic paper, there are certain issues that make it incorrect, or incomplete or excessively expressed, or written. These issues depend on how the sentences are framed, the use of words, structuring, or even repetition.

The various writing issues and how they can be resolved are given as follows-

1. Sentence fragment

This happens when a fragment or piece of a sentence is left alone, making the sentence incomplete and thus, wrong. So, by adding the verb or the missing subject, the sentence becomes complete and correct.

2. Run-on sentence

A run-on sentence is when several sentences are put together in a single sentence, resulting in a long-running sentence. To remedy this issue, we can break the sentences into shorter, simpler sentences or add punctuations such as the comma or other signs to show where the breaks in the sentence are.

3. Too many sentences of the same length

When there is the issue of too many sentences of the same length, it is best to revise what's been written and make changes such as shortening the sentences. Or changing the sentences to different lengths can also help in making the writing more appealing.

4. First three words of sentences repeated

When there is a case of repetition of the first three words in the sentences, replacing the words with synonyms or similar words will make it interesting and readable. It will also still retain the intended meaning.

5. Overused transition word

Overusing certain transition words or phrases is one issue that makes writing unappealing. This can be altered by rephrasing the words, which will still keep the reader's interest.
