The differences between the North and the South is that the South used slaves to pick cotton for them, the Southern economy was basically based on slave labor. If the South did not use slaves to pick cotton then the economy would crash, because the farmers were to lazy to pick their own cotton. The North did not like slavery, but their economy kind of depended on them too. This is because the cotton the South produced was shipped up North to make into clothes and other things. The North had about 22 million people living there and the South had about 9 million. The North also had more railroad millage, this helping them during the Civil War.

Hope this helped, if it did then please put me as brainliest. Thanks.

How could the author of the Declaration of the Independence own slaves?
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

It left the power to regulate slavery, as well as most powers, to the individual states. After their experience with the British, the colonists distrusted a strong central government. The new national government consisted solely of a Congress in which each state had one vote.
