Read the passage. But in the summer of 1980, when Larry walked out of the research building on Southeast Farallon Island, about

30 miles west of San Francisco, the gulls were no longer friendly. In an uproar of amazing proportions, over 8,000 of the 25,000 gulls nesting on the island began screaming and dive bombing him. Many offloaded gooey white droppings with missile-like accuracy. Which describes a cause and effect relationship in the text?

Here's a little poem I learned that I think will help you too:)!

<em>"5 or more let it soar,</em>

<em>4 or less, let it rest."</em>

This basically means 5 or higher you round and 4 or less you keep it the same.

Leslie would probably have come with us if she didn’t work all summer. What is the verb phrase?
Dmitry [639]

Answer: would probably have come with us.

A verb phrase consists of a main verb with its auxiliaries and its objects, complements or other modifiers. In this case:

  • <em>would, have: </em>auxiliary verb.
  • <em>probably: </em>adverb (modifier).
  • <em>come:</em> main verb.
  • <em>with us: </em>complement.

(Although this would be the most accepted definition, different theories could include different elements in a verbal phrase).
