Thomas Paine was one of the advocates of the independence of the Thirteen Colonies from England, even if that means using military force. His pamphlet “Common Sense” in 1776 was very influential in the start of the American Revolution.

In this passage from “The Crisis”, Paine’s main goal is option 4) You cannot expect mercy from one who has just conquered you. Paine encouraged the 13 colonies to declare independence from England and mentioned that England would look the best form them, no matter if their decisions affect the 13 colonies.

In “The Crisis” pamphlets, Pained encouraged soldiers to fight against the British army.

Which is more effective in making lasting change: in-person forms of activism, or online activism?
saul85 [17]
In person forms of activism are more effective in making lasting change. While an online hashtag certainly may raise awareness, that’s really all it can do. Websites like GoFundMe are great to raise money for a cause, but ultimately, real change is made through human interaction. Online activism can sometimes be seen as privileged people wanting to seem sympathetic, while not actually helping.

There’s several things you can do in-person to make a lasting change. You can start a protest, create a charity, volunteer at an organization, donate money, etc. More people are going to want to listen to what you say if you approach them in person, compared to a mass email. This is why in-person forma of activism are more effective.
