Pilgrims faced difficulties in the first winter of Plymouth, as they were not habituated to the cold weather of the region.

Further Explanations:

Plymouth is a harbor city in the southern coast of Devon, England. The city is experiencing an oceanic climate, having mild and wet weather with an annual mean temperature of approximately 11 degrees Celsius. It is having an average summer temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and winter with an average mean temperature of 3-4 degrees Celsius. The coldest month observed in February, having temperature as low as 3 degree Celsius.

Pilgrims during the 1600s wanted to settle in the Plymouth as they were aware of the fact that the lands of the regions are productive enough and setting there will be beneficial for them. Apart from all this, they were not aware of the cold weather of the region. The climatic conditions were solely new for them and as a result of it, they lost so many of their men’s. The situation didn’t remain the same next year. They were able to adjust themselves to the climate of the region.

The first winter was difficult because they had not been accustomed to how cold it could become without a secured shelter. It was also hard because during the previous seasons when the came to America, they were at a large risk of getting diseases that would not show their symptoms until winter. Because of these two hardships they were unable to find enough food for that season. The next year they did much better because they had less people and knew what they had to accomplish to survive the next winter. Don't listen to that because it will get you mixed up. It was hard because they didn't know how to live off of the land, because where they came from(England) they didn't have to garden and plant, they just had stores and that's why. Squanto did show them how to plant, but that was later

What were the consequences of the two Union victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg in the summer of 1863????
marshall27 [118]

Many consider July 4, 1863 to be the turning point of the American Civil War. Two important, famous, well-documented battles resulted in Confederate defeats: the Battle of Gettysburg (Pennsylvania), July 1-3, and the Fall of Vicksburg (Mississippi), July 4. However, two other major, lesser-known events resulted in two additional Confederate defeats. Both losses, one in Tennessee and one in Arkansas, were influenced by the Vicksburg Campaign.
