A psychology professor wants to know whether verbal ability is related to memory quality in current first-year students at her s

mall college. Participants in the study (first-year students at her college) complete an online memory task. The students are first shown a list of 60 words. Next they are shown a list that includes five new words that are conceptually similar to words on the original list. Then they are asked to identify the words on the second list that appeared on the original list. She uses the percentage of new but conceptually similar words that were mistakenly thought to be on the original list as her measure of memory quality. She also asks the students to report several characteristics such as their age, gender, and verbal SAT score.

Hello. This question is incomplete. The full question is:

"A psychology professor wants to know whether verbal ability is related to memory quality in current first-year students at her small college.

Which of the following are variables in the study? Check all that apply. The students' verbal SAT scores The students' percentage of words that were correctly recognized on the original list The number of students participating in the survey."

Answer:

The student's verbal SAT scores

The student's percentage of words that were correctly recongnized on the original list.

The number of students participating in the survey.

Explanation:

Within all scientific research, variables (dependent and independent) can be verified. These variables correspond to the number of factors that can take on value within the experiment and dissolve results for the research to be completed.

Accordingly, we can see that the variables of the experiment shown above are:

  • The student's verbal score in the SAT: presents a value and shows the difference between the students allowing a comparison to be made.
  • The percentage of words of the student that were correctly refilled in the original list: Also assumes a value and shows a result that is directly related to the veracity of the hypothesis of the study:
  • The number of students who participated in the study: It also assumes a value and will allow calculations and graphs to be made to show the results.

What role did the navajo code talkers play in WW2?
Yuliya22 [10]
The Navajo Wind Talkers were very instrumental in WWII using their Native American language to transmit codes the Japanese could not decipher. There were 400-500 Native Americans that served in the Marine Corps. Their job was to transmit secret tactical messages in the South Pacific Theater. The efforts of these men improved communications in the encryption at both ends of the message. It was sent by Navajo Wind Talkers in one area and received by another Navajo Wind Talker in another area of the front lines. Although we generally hear of code talkers in WW II, there was also a group in WW I from the Choctaw Native Americans. Other Native American tribes that helped with code talking were the Cherokee, Comanche, Choctaw, Lakota and Meskwaki.

The Navajo Wind Talkers were especially hard to decipher because of their complex grammar and the fact that at the time of WW II it was still an unwritten language. A code book was developed. Code talkers could encrypt a message at one end and decode it on the other end ten minutes quicker than the standard English message. When their various dialects, accents, syntax and tones were added into an already difficult language it is said that only people raised in that area could decode a message. It is generally agreed that without the code talkers the Marines would have never taken Iwo Jima.

Garrod hypothesized that "inborn errors of metabolism" such as alkaptonuria occur because _____.
Zepler [3.9K]
Garrod hypothesized that individuals who could not metabolize protein could not produce the enzyme in their bodies. He was the first to identify the condition as a genetic disorder. Others thought it was caused by a bacterial infection. He came to this conclusion by noticing that the disease was more common in families where marriage between relatives was common.
