M∠6=117°. since j║k, that means that ∠1 and ∠5 are corresponding angles, so m∠1=m∠5 (m∠5=63°). ∠6 is the supplement of ∠5 so their combined angle measurements must equal to 180°. so m∠6+m∠5=180°, m∠6+63=180°. solve for m∠6. then you come up with m∠6=117°. Hope this helps!

I need to find the value of x
Zanzabum
Hello,

We know that all the angles shown add up to 360 (think of a circle).

We also know that the angle of (6x-1)° is congruent to the angle opposite of it. (the "top left" angle) = 6x - 1°

We also know that the angle of (7x-1)° is congruent to the angle opposite of it.
(the "bottom left" angle) = 7x -1°

Knowing the sum of all angles as well as the angle measures in terms of x, we can add all the angle measures and equal it to 360.

So, we get (7x - 1) + (7x - 1) + (6x - 1) + (6x - 1) = 360
Simplify and we get:
26x - 4 = 360
Add 4 to both sides to get 26x = 364
Divide by 26 on both sides to get 14.

x = 14

Hope this helps!

An airplane takes off from an airport. When the
Ivanshal [37]

The angle of elevation is = 70° and the distance the airplane travelled in the air is = 17,557ft

Calculation of the distance travelled

 • To calculate the angle of elevation of the airplane

tan x° = opposite/adjacent

where opposite = 16,500 feet

adjacent = 6,000 ft

tan x° = 16,500 / 6,000

tan x° = 2.75

X = arctan ( 2.75)

X = 70°

 • To calculate the distance the airplane travelled in the air Pythagorean Theorem is used.

C² = a² + b²

C² = 16,500² + 6,000²

C² = 272250000 + 36000000

C² = 308250000

C= √308250000

C= 17,557ft
