First you need to find how far he can run in one minute. To do that divide 18.4 by 5. I got 3.68.
Then, multiply that by 23 to see how far he can run in 23 minutes. I got 84.64

A group of friends is sharing 2 & 1/2 pounds of berries. If 5 friends are sharing the berries, how many pounds of berries do
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

1/2 of a pound.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: You take 2 and 1/2 and convert it to an improper fraction.

2 1/2 = 5/2

Step 2: Divide 5/2 by 5.

5/2 / 5 = 1/2

Your answer is 1/2

Solve the compound inequality for x and identify the graph of its solution. x + 7 < 3 or x - 52 -1 O A. Solution: x < -4 o
aleksley [76]

Answer:

  D.  x < -4 or x ≥ 4

Step-by-step explanation:

You can eliminate choices A and B because the graph and the inequalities do not agree.

__

You can eliminate choice C because the first inequality tells you ...

  x < some value

That means the shading will be to the left of an open circle.

This is only shown in Choice D.

_____

<em>Additional comment</em>

You can work multiple choice questions several different ways. I like to choose the simplest, which often means you do not actually need to work the problem. You only need to be able to identify ...

  • answers that are self-consistent
  • answers that are consistent with problem requirements
  • answers that are consistent with numerical and geometric facts

Here, we can eliminate incorrect answers by throwing out those that are not self-consistent and that are not consistent with the problem statement.

__

If we were to solve the inequalities, we would subtract 7 from both sides of the first one:

  x +7 < 3

  x < -4 . . . . . . subtract 7 from both sides

and we would add 5 to both sides of the second one:

  x -5 ≥ -1

  x ≥ 4 . . . . . . add 5 to both sides

If you write these inequalities so the symbols point left, you have ...

 x < -4  or  4 ≤ x

This tells you shading is "outside" the segment between -4 and 4, and that there is an open-circle at x=-4. This is consistent with the number lines of choices B and D. However, these inequalities are <em>not consistent</em> with what is written in choice B.

The weekly sales of Honolulu Red Oranges is given by q = 896 − 20p.(A) Calculate the price elasticity of demand when the price i
vitfil [10]

Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

q = 896-20p

p = $32

.(A) Calculate the price elasticity of demand

As we know that

e=-\dfrac{dq}{dp}\times \dfrac{p}{q}\\\\e=-(-20)\times \dfrac{32}{896-20p}\\\\e=\dfrac{20\times 32}{896-20p}\\\\e=\dfrac{640}{896-20p}\\\\e=\dfrac{640}{896-640}\\\\e=\dfrac{640}{256}=2.5

(B) The demand is going down with increase in 15 increase in price at that price level, as we know that there is inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded.

(C)  Also, calculate the price that gives a maximum weekly revenue.

R=pq\\\\R=p(896-20p)\\\\R=896p-20p^2

We first find the first derivative:

R'(p)=896-400p

So, it becomes,

896-40p=0\\\\40p=896\\\\p=\dfrac{896}{40}=\$22.4

R=-40<0, so, it will give maximum revenue.

(D) Find this maximum revenue.

Maximum revenue would be R=pq\\\\R=22.4(896-20\times 22.4)\\\\R=\$10035.2
