The bricks meaning that they were worn out and it the houses and buildings were mostly made out of brick.
23. Negative effects would be at the end where it says “interminable serpents of smoke trailed themselves for ever and ever” and “river that ran purple with ill- smelling dye...” meaning that there was pollution due to the factories.

A) Seth is enjoying intimate distance and the professor is at public distance.

As the statement states that Jackie and Seth likes to be very close to one another with this, it can be associated that they are intimate with one another and possess a little significant social distance to each other which opposes the next clause that claims a public distance of two feet from the individual which is Seth and the professor.

4: The Vietnam War

5: the resignation of Richard Nixon.

Explanation:

I think the most important event that cecil witnessed was THE VOTING RIGHT ACT because the voting act was an “act to enforce the fifteenth amendment to the Constitution” was signed into law 95 years after the amendment was ratified. I think it is important because she got to witness what the affects of the 15th amendment was and she got to witness what it was like before the 15th amendment..
