Its important to do so because you never are completely sure on if the scientist is completely accurate and that they have done everything right, that is why every scientist retraces another scientists steps and completely redoes the experiment themselves. Your trying to make sure that your work and factual evidence is 100% accurate and wont be able to be proved wrong
