The reason why it is important to maintain plasma osmolarity within normal limits is because it is important in the cell in which it contributes to their components of maintaining the volume and its excitability. Without its normal limit, it could interfere with the cell’s excitability and the volume could not be within its normal range. Plasma osmolarity also contributes with the blood pressure, if this does not follow the normal limits, it could produce high or low blood pressure.
