Answer:

After Latin American nations won independence, US president James Monroe issued a warning to European countries. He told European countries that they shouldn't attempt to take back the colonies that they had once owned.

Explanation:

James Monroe proposed the Monroe Doctrine, in which he addressed the Europeans with the intention that none of the countries of that continent would interfere in America. "America for the Americans", meant that Europe could not invade or have colonies on the continent. Observing the process of imperialism that began to take place after the defeat of Napoleon in Waterloo, the doctrine warned that the European powers could take territories of Asia and Africa but that America belonged to the Americans, although given the ambiguity of this demonym, it could be a defense to the independences of Latin America so that they could have their own government, or the exclusivity of the dominion of the American Continent to the nascent United States of America.

Do you think the Panama Canal was worth the cost in terms of money spent and lives lost
lubasha [3.4K]
Even though the Panama Canal is considered to be one of the most prominent engineering marvels of the world, it is literally built on many losses. During building the Canal more than 25,000 people died, mostly because of disease. Over 20,000 people died when the French set a hope to build the canal, and  5,000 died when the Americans did it successfully. It is a really huge sacrifice.
